Companies and individuals should make greater use of emerging television distribution methods, according to a new study by a technology adviser.

Research carried out by Analysys Mason found that sideloading can reduce the burden of mobile TV traffic placed on 3G networks.

Studies indicated that if 75 per cent of mobile TV content is delivered using sideloading and 60 per cent of streamed content is consumed indoors, then 3G networks will need to carry just ten per cent of total traffic.

Dr Alastair Brydon, Analysys Mason associate and co-author of the report, said: "iPhone users can already watch a range of TV content without the need for 3G or mobile broadcasting capability, using sideloading and wireless local area network streaming."

This week, technology consultancy Unysis Corporation released results of a study indicating that the most successful technology companies are those able achieve key business objectives by adopting innovative approaches to IT services management.
