Position: Senior Technical Consultant Location: London

What we are looking for

You will be amongst the most experienced and knowledgeable technical persons in our organisation. You will have the skills to resolve the most complex technical problems. In additional to being a technical guru, you will be a real person who can explain these issues and their resolution to our clients and colleagues. Your peers will turn to you not only for solution, but also for coaching to help them reach solutions on their own. An ability and genuine desire to help other improve their skills is therefore essential.

You will be a technical champion within ihotdesk, developing and defining the systems we recommend that our clients use. Setting the standard and processes we use is a key element. You will also be assisting with pre-sales and solutions design as and when needed.

Finally, and very importantly, you will understand what is required to deliver excellent service. You will believe in this passionately.

Essential Skills

The ideal candidate should meet many of the following; however they will not be expected to meet them all.

Qualifications and experience::

You will need to prove how you have gained this experience, expect to be asked for examples during the interview.

  • 5 years experience of providing field based support for Desktops
  • 5 years experience of providing field based support for Servers
  • 3 years 3rd line support experience
  • 3 years project delivery
  • Protecting and recovering systems using backup solutions
  • A track record of resolving problems in areas which you do not have much technical exposure
  • Past experience of working alone and being self-managed
  • Proven experience of producing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Well-developed problem solving skills
  • Pre-Sales/Consulting experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Expereince of Virtualisation and storage technologies
  • ITIL V3 Foundation qualification
  • Current MCSE, MCSA, or relevant MCP’s

Technical Skills ::

You will have support skills in the majority of the following areas, this experience will have been gained through formal and informal training.

  • Windows 2003/2008 Server
  • Exchange 2003/2007/2010
  • SQL Server
  • Firewalls / Routers
  • MS Office
  • Windows Desktops
  • Networking skills (DNS, DHCP, DFS,…)
  • Anti-virus (Trend/Symantec)
  • Backups (Backupexec)
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Dell/HP Server Hardware
  • Blackberry/BES
  • Citrix
  • VMware
  • SAN's

Other::

You will also have:

  • Past experience of working alone and being self-managed.
  • Proven experience of producing and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Well-developed problem solving skills.
  • Experience assisting clients with developing their ICT strategy.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Based within easy access of central London.
