Remote working increases productivity, claims expert

Remote working technologies can allow employees to be more productive, an expert has told IT services users.
Mark Lewis, senior Europe, the Middle East, and Africa director of marketing and alliances at IT firm Riverbed, pointed out that remaining away from the office for long periods of time could make people feel cut off from their team, but some homeworking is ultimately beneficial.
"If organisations have the right infrastructure in place, working from home can often prove to be more productive to many employees as there are less distractions," he explained.
Mr Lewis added that investing in the right kinds of homeworking technology, such as remote server access and VoIP, can allow people to operate as effectively as they would in the office.
Recent research from business internet service provider Lumison claimed that almost three-quarters of people believe their productivity would increase if they could work from home.
It also showed that 65 per cent would work more hours, because they could avoid the daily commute.
