Cloud computing helps usage of unified storage
Cloud computing has been singled out as an IT platform that can help the unified storage market to grow.

Greg Schulz, author of 'Cloud and Virtual Data Storage Networking' and the founder of content generation firm StorageIO.com said that adding cloud computing to a set-up that is based on a single system will make its connectivity much more simplified.

"What that means is that unified storage will grow as a result of cloud, converged, dynamic, virtual and traditional usage - as it is very complementary to those scenarios," he said.

Mr Schulz added that the biggest benefit of both cloud-based and virtualised platforms is their flexibility and that makes them ideal for operating alongside unified storages systems.

Many companies are currently in the process of implementing some form of cloud computing into their day to day operations, but Eric Domage, European programme manager for IDC, recently warned that too many of them are not taking into the consideration all the security pros and cons it offers.
