Breaking news from ihotdesk, IT Security Solutions in London Posted by Paul Sells Internet users in the UK are among the most knowledgeable about malware and other online threats, the results of a new survey indicate. According to G Data Software, 94 per cent of Brits have installed some form of anti-virus protection, compared with 88 per cent in the US and 83 per cent in Russia. The company found that the majority of survey respondents were not well informed about malware and its sources. Almost all American respondents believed they would be able to tell if their computer was infected. "Today's malware is operated by professionals looking to surreptitiously steal sensitive information without risking detection," G Data Software observed. Hobby sites could also be more at risk than adult sites, the company noted, since they can be easier for cybercriminals to hack. Meanwhile, Kaspersky recently revealed details of the TDSS TDL-4 botnet is now the most powerful tool at the disposal of fraudulent internet users. ![]() |
