Breaking news from ihotdesk, delivering IT Support and IT Outsourcing in London Posted by Jessie Richards Demand for hosted VoIP services and similar products in the segment has almost doubled in the last year, it has been claimed. According to figures released by Infonetics Research, in the first quarter of 2011 sales of home and business IP telephony systems stood 96 per cent higher than at the same time in 2010. The statistics belie a fall over the previous quarter, with 2011 beginning 11.6 per cent lower than 2010, further emphasising how more and more people are realising the potential of hosted VoIP solutions and cloud computing. Diane Myers, Infonetics Research directing analyst for VoIP, said: "We expect 2011 to be the year where long-term evolution and network transformation projects start having an important impact on IP Multimedia Subsystems." The industry report predicted broadly positive growth across the sector in the long term. In other news, In Stat recently speculated that distributed antenna systems (DAS) could be used by many firms to combine VoIP and mobile phone technologies to create an on-site communications system. ![]() |
