Posted by Louise Tate Small business can benefit from improved flexibility by drafting in temporary workers, which could include contractors working in outsourced IT departments, it has been suggested. The Bank of Scotland's labour market barometer has found that demand for temporary staff in Scotland increased in December at its fastest rate since 2007, which could mean that more smaller firms are outsourcing IT operations. According to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, this is an area of UK business that will continue to grow at a national level. He added that hiring temporary staff, perhaps as part of an IT outsourcing strategy, "does help small businesses to take staff on quickly when they need to and it does give them that vital flexibility". Meanwhile, writing for eweek.com, Mike Alley recently argued that outsourcing IT services is the key to obtaining a competitive advantage in the modern-day business environment.
