Posted by Steven Gaskill A skills shortage in the technology sector could lead more small business IT to be provided through outsourcing in London and across the UK. Maggie Berry, managing director at Women in Technology, explained the difficulties faced by many smaller firms when attempting to recruit for their own internal IT departments. "It is finding the right calibre of candidates which can sometimes be a challenge … and firms sometimes struggle to find the quality of technical candidates with the requisite business knowledge," she added. Earlier this week, an industry expert from Teneo claimed that small UK businesses can use the cloud computing model to gain access to the latest enterprise-level technology for a reasonable cost. In a column for ChannelWeb.co.uk, James Hall suggested that the days of expensive internal server and storage solutions were increasingly being ditched in favour of IT outsourcing. Recently, Legal Week reported that law firm Norton Rose had saved over £5 million by outsourcing its IT infrastructure last year. ![]() |
