Posted by Paul Sells IT support users must ensure they effectively communicate their end goals when linking up with an outsourcing provider, it has been claimed. Gunter Bitz, head of product security governance at SAP, said that businesses must fully define their security requirements when outsourcing software development and support, reports ComputerWorld UK. Speaking at the RSA security conference in London, he commented: "If you outsource then don't tell the development partner what data the application will be processing, they just don't know anything different. "The contractor will develop the application as required and nothing else." He suggested that both IT outsourcing users and providers should never assume anything when beginning work on a support arrangement.
