Posted by Louise Tate The growing threat of online fraud means IT outsourcing customers need to be educated on the issue, an expert has said. According to Tony Neate, managing director of Get Safe Online, businesses and individuals need to "safeguard and protect" themselves against web fraudsters by learning about the various scams that exist. IT outsourcing providers can implement measures that protect companies against such threats, which can lead to damaging data leaks. But Mr Neate warned that anti-virus and anti-spyware software, while important, is not sufficient. "There's no one thing to blame and there's no organisation or individual to blame; we've all got to work together. It has got to be a joint responsibility to educate people for people to take their own necessary safeguards," he said. A recent report from CPP, a life assistance company, revealed 420,000 scam emails are sent every hour in the UK. ![]() |
