VoIP usage set for dramatic increase
Posted by Louise Tate

Businesses are set to increase their use of VoIP communications technology, new research has found.

A study conducted in the US, with findings that reflect general global trends, shows the number of VoIP minutes carried annually on 3G and 4G networks will rise from 15 billion this year to over 470 billion in 2015.

The data, compiled by Juniper Research, reflects a growing need for smart communications solutions among businesses seeking to gain a competitive advantage.

Such dramatic growth will be fuelled by the proliferation of 3G networks, the data analyst said.

Telappliant chief executive and founding director Tan Askoy said: "We're expecting to see further convergence of communications technology - for instance, convergence of voice, mobile, video, to deliver businesses and customers with a single communications experience."

Earlier this year, John Bosnell, senior analyst at Point Topic, claimed that the number of VoIP subscriptions has grown to reach 110 million across the world, with the UK having the tenth highest number of users at 2.95 million people.ADNFCR-8000229-ID-19871331-ADNFCR
