Posted by Jessie Richards Firms that take up IT outsourcing to improve their green credentials may see an upturn in business performance, according to an expert. Mark Thompson, managing director of COA solutions, said in an article for the Business Computer World that some companies had lost their focus on environmental issues during the recession and advised them to get back on track. Though the emphasis shifted to cost reduction measures during the down turn, Mr Thompson said it was as important as ever to devise sustainable projects and strategies. "With new regulations and continuing pressure from customers, successful companies will make sure their IT usage is monitored and sustainable," he said. Those companies that act now and implement green-based practices, aided by IT outsourcing providers, will be in a position of strength when regulations pave the way for a drastic revamp of the way IT is managed, Mr Thompson concluded. Simon Bullock, economy campaigner at Friends of the Earth, has urged the government to make green technology a top priority as part of its plans to stimulate economic growth. ![]() |
