Posted by Louise Tate Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are adopting unified communications solutions such as VoIP technology in greater numbers than ever before, according to new research. A study by Frost & Sullivan found SMEs all over the world are aiming to emulate their bigger rivals by embracing advanced communication features, with outsourcing providers able to offer exactly what they're looking for. The report said the shift in attitude would bring benefits for vendors, providers and clients across various industries. Dorota Oviedo, industry analyst for Unified Communications and Collaboration group, said firms of any size can improve their performance in this way. "After decades of being rather neglected by the enterprise communications vendors, the small and medium enterprise sector has recently become the target for a wave of products catered to its needs," she said. "From small start-up to large organisation, just about every company can benefit from productivity gains that unified communications solutions can provide." Ian Grayon, technology journalist at IT publication Hydapinion, said VoIP is likely to become increasingly popular and had the potential to become "the standard for all voice calls". ![]() |
