More companies set for IT outsourcing
Posted by Steven Gaskill

The number of companies that outsource their IT is expected to increase drastically over the next ten years, new research reveals.

According to a survey conducted by Vanson Bourne, independent research firm, 64 per cent of firms globally will opt to outsource their IT in 2020, up from 17 per cent currently.

More than 600 IT and businesses leaders from the US, UK, and Singapore took part in the study, with 61 per cent saying managing IT in-house put their firm at a competitive disadvantage.

It was also revealed that the UK will see the biggest shift from in-house IT to outsourcing, falling from 90 per cent today to 23 per cent in 2020.

In the US it's expected to drop to 49 per cent from 82 per cent, while in Singapore the change will be less drastic with the current figure of 62 per cent falling to 38 per cent in 2020.

Industry commentator Mark James told the Web-Biz site that the growing number of firms choosing to outsource their IT reflected a desire to innovate.ADNFCR-8000229-ID-19839815-ADNFCR
