Posted by Louise Tate IT outsourcing and desktop virtualisation are hot topics of conversation in the IT industry at the moment, it has been claimed. Writing for Forbes magazine, Elias Khnaser claimed that chief information officers are increasingly looking to the new technology to keep down overheads. Mr Khnaser claimed that the huge success of server virtualisation and other IT outsourcing technologies is driving a new wave of interest in desktop virtualisation. He said that the majority of firms consider IT outsourcing and application hosting because of the potential cost benefits that the technologies offer. "Desktop virtualisation... will save you significant money on operating expenditure, which is where the highest spend tends to be," Mr Khnaser said. He also commended IT outsourcing and desktop virtualisation for its business continuity and disaster recovery benefits. The increasing interest in IT outsourcing has caused many firms to form an optimistic opinion about growth in the sector during the coming year, according to research from IDC. ![]() |
