Posted by Jessie Richards New research has shown that security and strategic IT projects are among the key priorities for the next year among companies, which may show the need for IT outsourcing. A poll by technology firm Kaseya discovered that 46 per cent of IT professionals believe security will be a pressing issue in 2010, while 44 per cent are concentrating on projects which will create value for their organisations. In addition, the survey found that the top three challenges IT departments expect to face in the coming year are managing an increasingly complex infrastructure, justifying IT expenditure to corporate boards and dealing with demanding users. Phil Sansom, vice president of UK sales at Kaseya, said: "IT professionals are keen to deliver more strategic projects that benefit their organisation, but are caught up with managing increasingly complex infrastructures and carrying out day-to-day tasks to keep the IT cogs turning." The report also showed that 82 per cent of IT professionals think their department is valued by the organisation, with 41 per cent of these think it is greatly appreciated. David Weiss, president and chief executive of Numara Software, recently predicted that more companies will be looking to save money and become more efficient by using green IT. ![]() |
