Posted by Steven Gaskill Small companies are neglecting to implement effective disaster recovery processes, it has been claimed. Rob Lovell, chief executive of cloud computing provider ThinkGrid, told IT outsourcing for small business users that emerging enterprises tend to underestimate the importance of disaster recovery plans. "It is something that is definitely overlooked and probably for the wrong reasons - probably because people think it's going to be expensive or very complicated," he continued. Mr Lovell added that many small business owners are overly focused on dealing with immediate issues and fail to anticipate what could cause them problems in the mid-to-long term. Furthermore, the expert claimed that cloud computing platforms can be useful as part of a disaster recovery plan, as they allow workers to access all the applications in the office from a remote location. Recent research from messaging solutions provider Teneros found that more than one-quarter of companies do not have a remote data centre which can be used to recover information. ![]() |
