Posted by Paul Sells Companies which move their communications systems over to VoIP can experience a range of benefits, it has been suggested. Writing on TMCnet, Stefania Viscusi said that cost savings and increased features are two of the main advantages which attract firms to the technology. "For both large and small businesses, using VoIP technology to place and receive calls over the Internet is less costly and offers advanced functionalities not available through traditional landline providers," she commented. Ms Viscusi wrote that the other benefits of implementing VoIP include the technology requiring little hardware or software maintenance. In addition, the expert suggested that it is easy for companies to expand their VoIP networks, as the task will often be undertaken by their IT outsourcing provider. She also claimed that it is simple for firms to move phone systems around different locations when using VoIP, which can be beneficial when employees are homeworking or if an emergency occurs. Last month, research by In-Stat claimed that unified communications are increasingly likely to be delivered through cloud computing technologies. ![]() |
