Written by Louise Tate Encryption technologies are likely to be a main growth area for IT security, a new report has told IT outsourcing users. According to a study by Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill, recent government mistakes in data security have stressed the importance of IT security to the general public. "The use of encryption will grow as it provides a low-cost way of protecting data wherever it is located, both static and mobile," the expert said. Mr Hill also claimed that the interest in high-profile IT security failures will mean that companies invest in encryption technologies to avoid gaining bad publicity. In addition, the report suggested that more business will attempt to boost their endpoint security through deploying applications such as firewalls, antivirus programmes and web protection over the next year. A recent poll by the National Fraud Authority found that 97 per cent of workers lack confidence in their organisation's ability to safeguard sensitive data. ![]() |
