Written by James Gardiner Trojans continue to be the most common e-threats facing IT outsourcing users, it has been revealed. Research from BitDefender showed that Trojan.Clicker.CM was the most common piece of malware detected in August, accounting for 14 per cent of infections. The e-threat is being found on websites hosting cracks and keygens for commercial applications on an increasingly scale, the organisation explained. BitDefender also revealed that Trojan.AutorunINF.Gen was the second most common piece of malware in August, making up ten per cent of detections, while Trojan.Wimad.Gen.1 came in third with six per cent of infections. Other common e-threats detected by the group included Win32.Worm.Downadup.Gen, Win32.Sality.OG, Win32.Induc.A and Trojan.Autorun.AET, which may interest firms beefing up their IT security. Last month, research from Tufin Technologies found that hackers tend to be more active over the winter months, with Christmas and New Year's Eve being the favourite times for some cybercriminals. Michael Hamelin, chief security architect at the organisations, explained that hackers know this is when many IT departments are being run with a skeleton staff. ![]() |
