Companies looking for specialist IT skills
Written by Jessie Richards

Businesses are increasingly looking for workers with a number of specialist IT skills, it has been claimed.

In comments which may show the need for IT support, Hays Information Technology suggested that there is currently a demand for those with architecture expertise, as firms look to become more efficient in the economic downturn.

Furthermore, business intelligence consultants are in high demand, due to their ability to highlight areas that need extra resources to optimise a firm's performance.

The organisation also said businesses are looking for those skilled in virtualisation to complement their IT strategy.

It explained: "This results in server and device consolidation and these reductions mean less capital expenditure, lower power consumption and maintenance costs, fewer human resource support requirements and software licenses."

In addition, the group claimed that companies are willing to increase their investment in IT projects over the second half of the year, in order to prepare for the eventual economic upswing.

Earlier this month, Gartner revealed that worldwide IT services revenue reached $806 billion (£493 billion) last year, showing an increase on the $745 billion recorded in 2007.ADNFCR-8000229-ID-19234236-ADNFCR
