Written by James Gardiner Three-quarters of UK businesses could be wasting money through using overly-complex IT management tools, it has been claimed. Research carried out by OpTier quizzed 2,000 UK IT decision makers and found that companies are not investing in simplifying their management tools, which may show the need for IT outsourcing. In addition, 57 per cent of the survey's larger respondents revealed that they are seeing average costs of £4.64 million per year in downtime and staff time which could be reduce by a simplified management set-up. Motti Tal, founder and business development manager of OpTier, commented: "Businesses find themselves facing management tool overload, meaning that complex IT environments become even more costly and, ironically, more difficult to manage." The expert added that complex IT management systems often require companies to use multiple people to fix network and infrastructure problems, with one respondent needing 14 workers to resolve a single issue. Earlier this week, industry analyst Gartner recommended that companies monitor the performance of their IT service providers, in order to ensure they are making the most effective use of the solution. ![]() |
