Polycom launches new VoIP business media phone
Written by James Gardiner

Polycom has launched the first business media phone to combine a video conferencing system, VoIP with HD voice and an open application programming interface.

The unified communications company says the VX1500 integrates these features "seamlessly" with a colour touch-screen to simplify multimedia interactions.

Its new technology comes in a Polycom Productivity Suite bundle, for which business may require London IT support to install.

"Our customers consistently seek better leverage of their communication systems to improve productivity and reduce costs. They also expect Polycom to continuously deliver innovative, intuitive products to market," says Sunil Bhalla, senior vice president and general manager of Voice Communications Solutions at Polycom.

The firm adds that the technology has been designed to help businesses lower their carbon footprint, as it consumes less energy by using power over ethernet.

Last week, IDC predicted that the adoption of unified communications solutions will continue to increase in 2009 as organisations look to reduce operational expenditure.
