Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are looking to software as a service (SaaS) applications to save money as the recession hits, according to the latest research. Businesses seeking London IT support may be interested to discover that Really Simple Systems' survey of 678 companies found that over 83 per cent believe hosted software requires less maintenance than in-house technology. Over half of those questioned stated they had increased confidence in SaaS over the course of 2009. John Paterson, chief executive of the researcher, says: "SaaS is being realised as a means of dramatically reducing IT overheads and removing the burden of system maintenance for small organisations who would rather allocate that resource to developing the business." Respondents also asserted that they are just as confident about reliability, speed, data, safety and functionality of hosted applications as they do with in-house technology. This week Wayne Small, writing for PC Authority website, advised that SMEs should seek IT support so that they can improve their systems effectively. ![]() |
