Businesses which store data on their computers require a high level of security, an expert asserts. Tony Neate, the managing director of the Get Safe Online initiative, claims there are three types companies which use data storage deploy and identifies different requirements from each of these. Identifying self-employed or sole traders as the first category, he warns those who share their computers with family members they need protection from hackers and viruses. Businesses which obtain more information about their clients or customers require a higher level of security solutions, which Mr Neate says could include measures such as restricting access, along with those meeded for dealing with data protection issues. The final type of firm he analyses are those which engage in e-commerce, holding people's financial information, and he suggests these businesses need the highest level of security. According to Dot Net Solutions' chief executive officer, Dan Scarfe, one of the biggest advantages of IT outsourcing is the security it provides. ![]() |
