UK broadband users continue to find download speeds are slower at peak times due to networks suffering congestion, according to a new study.

Research carried out by broadband.co.uk indicates peak evening speeds tend to be much slower than in the daytime and during the night, with some suppliers seeing a greater discrepancy than others.

Spokesman for the firm Ed Dawson said: "Some suppliers such as BE, O2 and Orange manage to keep average speeds high across all time periods suggesting a good level of network capacity.

"Others see their speeds drop quite significantly during the peak periods suggesting that they struggle with capacity."

He went on to say that speed is the top issue for consumers when comparing broadband suppliers.

Earlier this week, employment agency Graduate Prospects claimed that online publicity means it is now easier for graduates to access a wide range of job opportunities than has been the case in the past.
