A new mobility suite, including a managed-service virtual private network has been launched by communications giant Motorola.

The product also includes an enhanced device management and security platform and aims to provide enterprises with secure and manageable mobile access.

Sue Forbes, senior director of product management and marketing at Motorola Good Technology Group, said that mobile messaging on its own is no longer sufficient for modern companies.

"Although mobile messaging remains a killer application, enterprises need an end-to-end mobility platform that enables them to manage all of their critical mobile applications across Wi-Fi and WAN/cellular networks," she continued.

Jack Gold, president of technology analyst J Gold Associates, added: "End user transparent managed security is key to expanding the footprint of enterprise applications to more mobile devices."

Earlier this week, IT analyst Gartner predicted that embedded wireless broadband capability could soon become financially viable for laptops because of new technology and pricing systems.
