Breaking news from ihotdesk, the home of IT outsourcing in London:
Working from home benefits both businesses and their employees, according to the Teleworking Association.

Working from home benefits both businesses and their employees, according to the Teleworking Association.

The organisation's chairman Brian Higton said that teleworking is relatively unique because, when it is properly implemented, it is of help to both parties.

He commented: "For the employer [it offers] reduced office space requirements and attendant reductions in fixed operating costs.

"For the employee [it offers] reduction or elimination of wasted time spent commuting, improved balance between work and home life, ability to be more involved in the local community and reduced stress."

Mr Higton went on to say that teleworking also improves staff loyalty as workers given the opportunity to work from home feel more highly valued.

The news follows comments earlier this week by IT and business solutions provider IBM suggesting that telecommunications firms are increasingly outsourcing their IT departments, allowing them to focus on their core business as they do not have to maintain in-house IT teams.
