Healthcare organisations in the UK and United States are looking to IT outsourcing to improve the efficiency of their support operations.

Healthcare organisations in the UK and United States are looking to IT outsourcing to improve the efficiency of their support operations.

The Earth Times reports that the healthcare outsourcing market is expected to grow at around ten per cent over the next five to seven years, faster than the overall market growth of seven to eight per cent.

Increasing expenditure on confidentiality and privacy issues, government regulatory changes and merger, acquisition and divestiture activity have all increased demand on technical and support infrastructures, driving the need for change within the healthcare outsourcing market, according to the news provider.

Mark Voytek, healthcare industry lead at EquaTerra and co-author of an influential paper on outsourcing in the healthcare industry, remarked: "Outsourcing can play a positive and growing role in helping [healthcare organisations] address the serious challenges they are facing today."

He continued: "The market is expanding and rapidly maturing, and what was premature in the past could be ready for prime time today."

The pressure to reduce costs while expanding services is turning the global healthcare industry onto IT outsourcing solutions, according to EquaTerra research.
