A study in America has suggested that teleworking increases productivity and efficiency.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) survey has found that over half of its employees telework, with 32 per cent doing so on a regular basis, reports the Baltimore Business Journal.

Speaking on Ad Hoc news, Anthony Arnolie, chief human capital officer at the NSF, said that teleworking brings benefits to both workers and employers.

"NSF clearly sees the value that telework offers to employees and the agency," he remarked.

Mr Arnolie continued: "Employees can win on three fronts: better work/life balance, reduced carbon footprints, as well as decreased commuting time and costs. The agency wins too as telework helps us recruit and retain highly-skilled workers and overall productivity increases."

According to Ad Hoc news, each NSF teleworker claims 62 hours of their life back by working from home and not commuting, also saving themselves over $1,200 (£600) a year, and they collectively spare the environment almost 450 tonnes in emissions.
