Electronic payments software company ACI Worldwide has signed a major new outsourcing deal with IBM.

Over the course of the seven-year contract, ACI believes it will save between $25 and $30 million by outsourcing all of its internal IT services, which will see IBM manage ACI's infrastructure, data services and monitoring.

"This agreement allows ACI to focus on its core competence in developing, delivering and supporting payment solutions for our customers," said ACI's vice president of global business operations.

"By outsourcing infrastructure management to IBM, we can leverage their worldwide resources to consolidate our data centres, upgrade hardware and software, and standardize on proven tools and processes to improve our operational performance in our on-demand business and IT infrastructure."

He pointed also to enhanced disaster recovery capabilities and improved security standards that ACI would be able to attain by working with a major IT outsourcing business like IBM.
