T-Systems has won an IT outsourcing contract with Frequentis, according to new reports.

Under the five year contract T-Systems will mange the Vienna-based firm's IT systems around-the-clock and provided associated services such as application and help desk support.

The contract was issued with an option to renew the basic operation of the European air traffic control database – known as the European Aeronautical Information Services Database (EAD) – which T-Systems will maintain under the deal.

Information and communications technology service provider T-Systems will also contribute to the improvement of security and the processing of air traffic within Europe and Canada for Frequentis.

T-Systems will help Frequentis provide the EAD core application, which it is responsible for on behalf of Eurocontrol.

Eurocontrol provides the EAD for its member nations and their customers, which includes airlines and private pilots.

It is also responsible for the security of the entire European airspace and is headquartered in Brussels.
