Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) has signed a $130 million (£65 million) IT outsourcing contract to provide Allergan (AGN) with information technology outsourcing services.

The Dallas-based IT firm signed a seven year contract to provide Californian drug manufacturer AGN with data centre operations, network monitoring and management as well as end-user support services.

Ann Vezina, group president of ACS Commercial Solutions, said: "This key relationship further expands our presence in the pharmaceutical industry and allows us to develop and strengthen our industry-specific competencies.

"Our partnership will enable AGN to focus on its global core business operations as the company grows and help meet AGN's need for advanced technological capabilities."

As well as "comprehensive ITO services" ACS will also be responsible for implementing an "innovative platform" which will provide a more reliable restore back-up by storing key data online using a network connection.

ACS, employs 62,000 people and supports client operations in more than 100 countries.

It provides business process outsourcing and information technology solutions to commercial and government clients and its stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "ACS".
