MKS Integrity has won an IT outsourcing contract with the UK's largest electricity supplier, it has announced this week.

RWE npower has signed MKS Integrity up to automate the software release process for key elements of the company's most critical software application – its residential customer billing system.

Jim Relton, senior release analyst at RWE Systems UK, said: "RWE npower have introduced MKS Integrity to support our business, providing us with full traceability and auditability from initial request for change through to the deployment of that change into production.

"We expect that with this implementation, to automate the deployment process, we'll have an opportunity to reduce costs, streamline processes and enhance our reporting and overall confidence."

MKS Integrity will implement the systems for npower at its Birmingham-based data centre, where it will provide a workflow-based approach to software development supporting the best practice for this billing system.

The outsourcing firm will ensure RWE npower has a "secure, robust and flexible" staging and deployment system, guaranteeing that changes made to the core residential billing system are implemented into production as part of an initiative to enhance the release management process.
