Global manufacturer of digital electronics LG has launched a new biometric USB drive, it has announced this week. As well as the biometric equipped drive it has also released a "vaccine" USB which comes complete with antivirus and malware protection software. The firm's biometric offering uses fingerprint recognition technology to give users extra security, protecting the drive's data while in transit. Users encrypt the device by scanning their fingerprint via bespoke identification software within the USB drive when they use the device for the first time. In addition, the biometric drive also has a safety ejection component to help prevent data corruption and offers a "favourites" function for internet users. The "vaccine" USB is just as innovative, having been described by LG as the world's first USB equipped with inbuilt virus protection. Once connected the device automatically monitors incoming traffic for malware with real-time system monitoring. Both devices will be launched in matt black with a mirrored front in capacities ranging between 512 MB and eight GB. © Adfero Ltd |
