The broadband boom that seems to have enveloped Britain in recent months has been backed up my internet usage figures.

Around ten million Brit's have signed up for broadband services and on average spend just under a day a week on the internet, research from uSwitch reveals.

Shopping on the internet was particularly popular with 87 per cent of users exploring the online high street. Just under 80 per cent of customers also did their banking on the internet saving on repetitive statement printouts and having to adhere to banking opening hours.

Chris Williams, broadband product manager at uSwitch, stated: "The flexibility of the internet means it's the perfect place for multitasking, having fun and generally getting things done. The uptake of broadband in the past eighteen months has been nothing short of explosive and this will certainly continue, especially with the constant innovation in the market."

Games are also popular, as is studying and finding resources for work projects. The internet has truly revolutionised people's everyday lives, even more so when you consider the accessibility and popularity of broadband.

Internet access and IT support is also crucial for businesses and many companies are choosing to outsource their IT support in London and throughout the UK.
