Microsoft has today launched its first ever security product in an attempt to help home users and small businesses.

OneCare is currently only on sale in the US but it is going to be released elsewhere in the world during the course of the next 12 months.

It is likely to prove extremely beneficial to small and medium-sized enterprises, not least because it combines anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall programs within the single package.

Recent research has again exposed the fact that many small businesses are cutting corners when it comes to IT security, with many failing to protect their invaluable data.

OneCare will reportedly address this issue, while it also boasts back-up software to help assist data recovery.

Users will also receive alerts about viruses and worms as well as advice on how to cope with these problems. While the US will be the first to benefit, it is thought that IT support in London will also soon profit as a result of Microsoft's new offering.
