Corus will outsource its IT infrastructure to Capgemini in a £26 million five-year deal. The move will introduce utility computing, virtualisation and adaptive storage facilities and move the steelmaker's mainframe service to data centres in Bristol and Rotherham, according to Computer World UK. Speaking to reporters, Bruno Laquet, chief information officer at Corus, stressed the importance of IT outsourcing in helping the company meet its targets. "The quality and efficiency of our mainframe systems is of key importance to our customers and employees in ensuring that we manufacture and deliver the right products with the right quality at the right time," he added. Last week, research vice-president at Gartner Martin Gutberlet commented that clients are becoming increasingly technologically literate and making more specific demands of IT outsourcing companies. He went on to predict that within two years client decisions will account for half of all hardware, software and services purchases. ![]() |
