BT has announced its first major data centre IT outsourcing contract in the Asia Pacific region. The firm will collaborate with CLSA Asia Pacific Markets, a leading Hong Kong investment company and brokerage, to upgrade and manage the latter's data centre. BT will upragde the software and hardware for CLSA, installing a new Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and cooling system, while providing 24-hour management through an on-site team. Allen Ma, president of BT Asia Pacific noted that this is BT's first fully managed data centre contract in the region. "This demonstrates our ambition to be recognised by our customers as the leading networked IT solutions partner of choice in the Asia Pacific region," he said. Mr Ma added: "The agreement marks the extension and strengthening of our strategic relationship with CLSA." BT is currently in negotiations to buy Singapore's Frontline Technologies Corporation. If successful, the takeover would substantially expand BT's IT outsourcing capabilities in the Asia Pacific region. ![]() |
