Accenture takes on Thomas Cooks IT outsourcing
Thomas Cook has agreed a £192 million deal with Accenture for the outsourcing firm to look after its infrastructure support for the next ten years.

Under the IT support arrangement, Accenture will be responsible for Thomas Cook's application and infrastructure management services to support the travel agent's back office systems.

Announced today, the deal is a continuation of a 2002 arrangement that will now be aimed at integrating MyTravel operations into Thomas Cook's own framework after the two firms merged in June this year.

Commenting on the IT outsourcing deal, Manny Fontenla-Novoa, joint chief executive of Thomas Cook, said the travel agent was "delighted" to extend the 2002 arrangement.

Kevin Campbell, group chief executive of transportation and travel services practice at Accenture, said the arrangement would allow "Thomas Cook to focus on excellent customer service and accelerates the delivery of the back-office benefits resulting from its merger with MyTravel".

Accenture provides IT outsourcing, management consulting and other technology services across the globe. It employs 170,000 people and has 150 offices in 49 countries.
