Voice over internet protocol (VoIP) technology is making outsourcing more popular among small firms, according to new reports. Innovations in broadband and communication technologies have meant that firms looking to save on space and costs can outsource their secretarial services with much greater ease than before. Business process outsourcing, as this practice is known, has in previous years been given a bad name by off-shore projects in countries such as India but is now acquiring a very different image. IT expert Richard Phillips told the Guardian: "The outsourcing industry for secretarial work is exploding at the moment. "Outsourcing has moved from being a rather quirky cost-saving enterprise to being mainstream business thinking." Firms in big UK cities such as London and Manchester looking to use IT outsourcing processes to save money can easily locate local outsourcing companies to provide this service for them. A recent study by Forester Research revealed that the UK accounted for 36 per cent of all European, Middle Eastern and Asian outsourcing deals in the second quarter of 2007. © Adfero Ltd |
