IT outsourcing is the "highest growth area" in the IT services market, according to new research. Research and advisory consultancy, Garter, has forecasted that end-user spending in the industry will exceed £364 billion worldwide in 2007, which is an 8.7 per cent increase from 2006. Core IT outsourcing will account for 41 per cent of this spending. This is partly because process management services are often funded outside IT budgets, which may already be accounted for. Kathryn Hale, vice president for Gartner, said a focus on improving internal processes coupled with a desire for innovation were two of the main reasons companies were continuing to invest in IT services. "Global delivery models are meeting both needs by enabling buyers to effectively use labour arbitrage which simultaneously stimulates some demand for services that might otherwise be unaffordable, while dampening spending growth for many services that now cost less," she added. The news comes as outsourcing-group.com announced this week that outsourcing is one of the "main progress trends" in the IT-market, with as many as 40 per cent of companies using IT outsourcing services in the US. © Adfero Ltd |
