Outsourcing your business' infrastructure management and application services could save you between ten and 20 per cent per year, according to new research. A report from analyst group Forrester Research has revealed that companies acquiring so-called 'conservative' deals could save 12 per cent annually in costs, while those targeting a "sweet spot deal" (lasting around seven years) could cut their costs by 17 per cent per year. Forrester partnered with IT outsourcing advisory firm TPI to calculate these figures, with TPI providing information from over 50 IT outsourcing deals signed between 2003 and 2006. The total saving was calculated by comparing projected internal costs without outsourcing to total planned costs with outsourcing. The Forrester report states: "The few dozen TPI clients analysed here have unlocked at least $3.3 billion (£1.65 billion) of total commercial value." A "sweet spot deal" was defined as one worth between £100 million to £150 million, lasting for around seven years, with between £25 million and £60 million spent annually.  © Adfero Ltd |
