Enea has announced that it has agreed a new professional services agreement with an application servers provider. Under the terms of the bridged services deal, network software and services provider Enea will assume control of the firm's test operations, providing training, audits, tools and managed services. The unnamed company, which provides application servers for converged networks, wants to significantly reduce its testing costs and is paying Enea $3 million over two years to carry out the project. Stockholm-based Enea plans to deploy a small team at the equipment provider's offices in the US in order to manage and optimise the firm's test and quality control processes and gradually shift the majority of operations to its offshore facilities in Bucharest, Romania. Virginia Walker, Enea senior vice president of corporate strategy and marketing, said: "The expansion of our Romanian engineering facility offers an economically attractive opportunity for equipment manufacturers to outsource non-critical operations and focus internal resources on getting to market faster with highly differentiated equipment that offers best-of-breed service capabilities." The deal will save the application servers provider an estimated $1.5 million a year and marks a change in the way in which equipment makers handle design and testing of telecom equipment. © Adfero Ltd |
